PLAYA GRANDE Umbrellas, beach chairs, a dog wandering the sand, the mountains rising green behind the water. An ordinary perfect day on the La Guaira coast — the kind of day this whole collection exists to remember. Drawn by hand from archival photographs from those years and memories of my grandmother at the beach.
"Memories of Macuto" is a joint initiative between the brand NEREA and Valeria Savino.
A year ago, commissioned by NEREA, I drew scenes of Macuto, Venezuela, for their clothing collection called MACUTO. Now, with a new purpose, those scenes are available for individual purchase, and $60 of every print goes directly to Fundaprocura and Alimenta la Solidaridad ($30 each), supporting the community affected by the June earthquakes.
